HAMDEN, Conn. – Brian Feldman (Canandaigua, N.Y.) did it again, as the Quinnipiac men's lacrosse freshman was tabbed MAAC Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season, announced by the league office on Monday, April 27, 2015.
Brian Feldman played a large role offensively on Thursday, helping Quinnipiac to a 12-10 victory at Air Force. He netted his third career hat trick, scoring three goals against the Falcons. Feldman scored once in the first quarter, once in the second and then added an insurance goal late in the fourth.
With his marker in the opening stanza, Feldman extended his point streak to 11 games and moved into the team-lead for goals scored this year. He also scooped up four ground balls in the game, a career high for the rookie.
A viable candidate for MAAC Rookie of the Year, Feldman has 29 points on 24 goals and five assists this season. Feldman has the most goals by a rookie since Alan LoGiudice had 37 goals in 1998, and the most by a rookie since Quinnipiac joined the Division I ranks.
Quinnipiac clinched the second seed in the 2015 MAAC Championships and will take on the third seed University of Detroit Mercy on Thursday, April 30 in Poughkeepsie, New York at 4 p.m. Marist College earned the top seed of the tournament, making Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field the venue for the weekend.
The Red Foxes play host to the fourth seed Monmouth on Thursday night at 7 p.m. The two winners will play on Saturday for the MAAC Championship at 2 p.m. live on ESPN3. The champion will represent the MAAC in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
