Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Announces Class of 2019

HAMDEN, Connecticut – Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold has announced the Bobcats' incoming class for the 2015-16 season. Pecknold welcomes six freshmen to his squad that returns 21 players from the 2014-15 season that qualified for its third consecutive NCAA Tournament after winning its second ECAC Hockey Regular Season Championship in the last three years.

Pecknold's 2015-16 recruiting features six imports from the British Columbia Hockey League including Vernon Vipers teammates Tom Aldworth (Keller, Texas) and Luke Shiplo (Oakville, Ontario), as well as Scott Davidson (Trail, British Columbia) from the Chilliwack Chiefs, Craig Martin (Trail, British Columbia) from the Trail Smoke Eaters, Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Daniel Fritz (Harwood, Maryland) from the Coquitlam Express.

The British Columbia Hockey league will place 123 players in NCAA Division I programs in 2015-16. Last season, Quinnipiac featured nine players from the BCHL, including ECAC Hockey Third Team Goalie Michael Garteig, who played for the Penticton Vees, as well as ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Selection Landon Smith, who suited up for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Travis St. Denis, who was Garteig's teammate with Pentincton, scored 15 goals and assisted on 33 more and was named the Bobcats' assistant captain for the 2015-16 season, while former Surrey Eagles standout Devon Toews has established himself as a premier defensman in ECAC Hockey.
