HAMDEN, Conn. – Seniors Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) and Michael Sagl (West Islip, N.Y.) were named Quinnipiac’s April Athletes of the Month, announced on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 by the Athletic Department.
Raynor put together one of the best months in Quinnipiac women’s tennis history as she went a perfect 18-0 in individual matches, including 9-0 in singles, 9-0 in doubles, and 12-0 in MAAC matches. During the month, she broke Stephanie Petrycki’s women’s tennis program record for career wins when she won her 166th victory against Monmouth on April 18th. Currently, Raynor has 169 wins heading into the NCAA Tournament this weekend.
Raynor also broke the program’s single-season wins record with her 45th victory, and currently sports a 48-13 this season. She was named the MAAC Tournament’s Most Outstanding Performer after winning three matches on the way to the women’s tennis team’s second straight MAAC Championship. Raynor was also named to the All-MAAC First Team for singles and doubles, the All-Academic Team, and was named the team MVP. In addition, Raynor was honored three times by the MAAC as the women’s tennis player of the week and four times by the ECAC as the Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

Sagl led the men’s lacrosse team to a perfect 5-0 record through the month of April, finishing with 20 points on 11 goals and nine assists. He finished second among MAAC players in assists for the month, while leading the team in points and assists. Sagl had at least four points in four out of the last five games; including a month-high of six points when he had three goals and three assists at Air Force on April 23rd. He was the best player on the field in the MAAC Semifinals when he scored three goals and assisted on another in the win over Detroit Mercy. He backed that up with five goals and an assist in the championship game against Marist, earning MAAC All-Tournament Team honors.
Sagl wrapped up his illustrious career with 183 points on 84 goals and 99 assists – ranking first all-time in assists, third in points and tied for fifth in goals scored. He also extended his point streak to 47 straight games which was the nation's third longest streak among active NCAA players at seasons end.
